Restart Windows when you're not there, at any time, from anywhere
Introduction
Do you ever need to restart Windows when you are not sitting in front of your PC?
If the answer is Yes, this service application may be very useful for you. With this
software, you can use the Windows scheduled tasks manager to schedule restarts.
But even more important, you can restart from another machine on your network!
Why restarting Windows
Having several computers on the LAN that run 24 hours, 7 days a week, most people
want to restart now and then, to empty accumulated garbage and to reset services
or applications that have ceased to function properly.
Problem
You want this to happen at night, when little activity takes place.
Or you want it to happen on demand, mabye when you are not sitting in front of your
PC. Then, at the same time, something has happened, your Remote Desktop connection
to the PC you want to restart is broken.. Maybe the latter even is the reason you
need to restart!
Solution
Install the Ingvarius Windows Restarter service application! This application reads
a config file at a predefined interval, and if the restart flag is set, it will
restart Windows - no further questions, regardless of applications hanging or trying
to stop Windows from closing down.
The clue here is that the config file of course can be edited from another machine,
provided you share out the folder where it resides. So - if you have access to at
least one machine on your network, via Remote Desktop or the like, you can restart
any machine that has this service installed and running!
