Apply for beta testing here.
What is beta testing?
Beta testing means testing a product when it is in "beta". Being
in Beta means that it normally is almost finished, with the complete feature set
onboard. However, further tests are needed before the product can ship. This is
important because it is very difficult to test software on-site under all possible
(and impossible) conditions. People have a huge variety of PC setups and all possible
configurations of software and hardware. Only a real beta test can ensure that the
product will function well on a large number of different computers, used by a
large number of different kinds of users.
When you apply for beta testing, you get a product that in most
cases is fully functional. The purpose is to have you install and use the software,
and then return a report to us containing your experiences using the product. Especially
welcome are your reports on any errors or malfunctions you way encounter (so called
"bugs"). This will help us improve the product and possibly fix errors before it
is released.
Responsibility
As a beta tester, we trust your cooperation, and trust that you follow our guidelines
and especially the restrictions that apply. The software you get is for use only
during the test period, for a limited amount of time. Sometimes the software is
physically
time limited - it will cease to work after a predefined amount of time,
some times not.
In any case are you not allowed to make copies of the software and not permitted
to distribute it to others, or make it possible for people not authorised by us to download the
products you have been given access to.
What you get
If you are a professional, you get access to software that still is not released,
and this may mean benefits for you, you may already be up and running on commercial
software the day it is released. For all users, there will be benefits involved
for products that cost money. Mostly, for products in the lower price range, for
components, utilities and smaller libraries, you will get one license for free,
per
product.
